Last week, the Democratic National Committee announced it will require early primary states to re-apply for the status in the 2024 Presidential Election cycle. South Carolina is among four states that have held early primary status. The other three have been Iowa, Nevada, and New Hampshire. The decision came to make states re-apply for early status, after the disaster with the Iowa primary in 2020. DNC officials will evaluate each state on various factors. Will South Carolina remain an early primary state in 2024?
