The Upstate's only pro soccer team, the Greenville Triumph is looking for a newly constructed stadium. The Triumph had approached the Greenville County Council, proposing that the county provide the majority of the funds for the new stadium. The site for the proposed stadium is at Bridgeway Station in Mauldin. The stadium plan as it has been drawn up would cost an estimated $38 million. The proposal failed to pass the Greenville County Council's Finance Committee , a few weeks ago. The matter was again discussed as the council meeting this past Tuesday night. Councilman Lynn Ballard requested a recall on the matter, as he felt the full council should vote on the matter. Ballard's motion to suspend the rule that "kills" a proposal when it fails to pass through a committee failed to get enough votes. So the county funding for the project is now officially off the table. Triumph management has said they are exploring other avenues to make the new stadium a reality. Do you think the Triumph can make this happen? Will they get a new stadium? Let us know, below.
