Will the high cost of diesel fuel lead to more product shortages?

Recently, reports have surfaced that many independent owner-operator truck drivers are not operating as much. The reason is the cost of operation with high diesel prices, leave very little opportunity to turn a profit. AAA says that the national average Diesel price is $5.54 per gallon. Last week, diesel prices reached an all time recorded high of $5.57. Since the Covid pandemic supply chain issues have been an ongoing problem for all Americans. With the diesel prices at never seen before highs, that could increase those supply problems. Will the diesel prices trigger an increase in supply chain issues and cause supply to be even shorter of demand, than it is already? Let us know, below.
