A Western North Carolina Deputy and a suspect were injured in a weekend shooting. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office says one of their deputies and an officer from The Asheville Police Department were serving a warrant on a suspect around 1:40 AM, Sunday morning outside of the Magistrate's office at the Detention Facility there.
The suspect who's not been identified, reportedly walked into the lobby and resisted arrested which led to an altercation. The suspect is charged with pulling a gun and shooting the deputy in the shoulder. The deputy returned fire, striking and injuring the suspect. He fled the scene but was later taken into custody at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
The Deputy was treated at the hospital Sunday and was released. The Asheville PD officer suffered minor injuries in the altercation. The North Carolina Bureau Of Investigation or NCBI is investigating the shooting. No further details were released as of the time of this report.
