A dog is dead after it reportedly attacked a deputy in Western North Carolina, late last week. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office says a deputy responded to a home in Candler, around 4PM Thursday afternoon.
The deputy reported that the homeowner opened the door, the dog ran at the deputy, bit his hand and would not let go. The deputy used his taser but that was unsuccessful. He then drew his gun and shot and killed the dog.
The Sheriff's Office says the deputy was transported to the hospital, to be treated. An internal review of the incident is ongoing, which is standard protocol in deputy involved shootings.
