In what feels like the plot of a Hollywood movie, a wanted fugitive was found in a highly unlikely spot in Western North Carolina.
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Highway 120 in an effort to locate 34 year old Casey Ray Daniel Brooks. The Sheriff's Office says Brooks had been evading arrest since 2020.
When deputies arrived, they were told by people at the home that Brooks was not there. However, investigators discovered a trap door under a floor rug. They opened the door and found Brooks, he was then taken into custody.
Brooks faces a long list of felony charges. The Sheriff's Office says Danny Ray Brooks and Jessica Breanna Green are charged with helping the fugitive.
