A Western North Carolina man is facing charges after officials say a child and two adults with special needs were found living in deplorable conditions.
The McDowell County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a woman in cardiac arrest at a home in the Nebo Community, earlier this month. Upon arrival, deputies found the woman dead. They also found an 11 year old girl, plus a man and woman with special needs living in the home without running water or indoor plumbing.
Officials say more than a dozen dogs were living at the home, The Sheriff's Office says 58 year old, Derrek Suppes has been arrested and is charged with child abuse and abusing a disabled person.
