A Western North Carolina man is facing upgraded charges after deputies say he assaulted an elderly man. The McDowell County Sheriff's Office responded back in April to a reported assault at a home in Marion.
Deputies say. a 79 year old man was thrown to the ground by a neighbor. 29 year old, Matthew Dylan Sowers was originally charged with misdemeanor assault.
That charge has now been upgraded to felony assault with serious injury.
