A Western North Carolina man will spend more than the next 5 years in prison for burglary and firing shots inside a home. Officials say 20 year old, Jaylin Gardner of Asheville pleaded guilty to 1st degree burglary and two counts of firing into a dwelling.
In March of 2022, the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a home on Exchange Circle in the West Asheville community. Upon arrival, deputies were told by residents of the home that a masked intruder broke in and once their dog reacted the man fired twice and fled.
Nobody was hurt in the incident, the bullets hit the walls of the house. A cell phone was found at the scene that led investigators to Gardner. Investigators say the home was previously occupied by someone that was charged in a shooting earlier in 2022, in which Gardner's friend was the alleged victim.
Gardner will serve a minimum of just over 5 years and a maximum of 7 and a half years.
