A Western North Carolina man will spend the next two decades behind bars after mayhem in the mountains led to a shooting. 23 year old, James Tyler Lynch of Asheville has been convicted of assault with intent to kill and discharging a gun during commission of a violent crime.
The charges stem from an incident in 2024 in which Lynch met up with the victim in an Asheville park in 2024. The two then got into a vehicle and headed down the Blue Ridge Parkway, where the driver pulled over at Lynch's direction. He then told then victim to get out of the vehicle.
Court records say that's when Lynch shot him at least half a dozen times. The victim suffered gunshot wounds to various parts of his body and was taken to a hospital to be treated. Lynch has been sentenced to 20 years in the North Carolina State Prison System.
