A cross bow wielding suspect is in custody after a standoff in Western North Carolina, Monday. The Yancey County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a woman being assaulted at a home in Burnsville.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered the suspect Brian Thomas Wilson. The Sheriff's Office says Wilson exited the home with a loaded cross bow and pointed it at deputies.
One deputy then fired a single shot striking Wilson. He was injured and was airlifted to Mission Hospital in Asheville to be treated. No deputies were injured in the incident, which remains under investigation.
The charges against Wilson have not been formally announced, as of the time of this report.
