An order has been given to shut down a Western North Carolina motel that police say has a history of drug trafficking, prostitution and violent incidents. A judge issued a restraining order for the Tri-City Motel in Spindale.
The order forces the motel to close to any new guests or tenants. It also will force current tenants to leave once their rental agreement is up. The move falls under public nuisance abatement statutes in North Carolina.
A hearing is expected in the coming weeks to determine the permanent future of the property.
