An Asheville man is expected to spend at least three decades behind bars after the beating death of an elderly man at an apartment complex. In March of 2024, The Asheville Police Department responded to Compass Point Village. Upon arrival, the victim 72 year old Robert Earl Griggs was found dead at the scene.
The suspect 57 year old, Garland William Kuykendall was arrested nearby. He entered a guilty plea to a charge of 2nd degree murder Wednesday and is set to serve between 30 and 37 years in the North Carolina Department Of Corrections.
