The Laurens County woman and her three children reported missing early Wednesday morning are safe, but she is in the county jail. The three hour air and ground search for Leslie Heather Burns and the children finally ended near Hickory Tavern.
Investigators say she had walked away from her home on Fairview Road in Gray Court between one and three AM, Wednesday taking children with her, four-year-old William, two year old Justin and Lily, a five month old baby. Laurens County authorities say they had been reported missing by someone who lives in the home, otherwise unidentified.
A man was arrested at that house last month on a domestic violence charge. K-9's and a helicopter joined the search as fear for the safety of the kids heightened, a Laurens County Sheriff's spokesman called the circumstances "concerning." No details have been released about how or where they were found. Leslie Heather Burns reportedly faces child endangerment charges.
