A woman is in custody in Georgia accused of the violent stabbing attack that injured three people, including a police officer, in Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
The police Facebook page says officers confronted the knife-wielding woman outside a security checkpoint Wednesday afternoon.
“Prior to their encounter, she had stabbed another adult male,” said Atlanta Police Sgt. John Chafee. “Officers encountered her, began to try to talk her into dropping the knife, limit her movement. She walked into the South terminal. In there, she stabbed another female, and then she stabbed an APD Lieutenant who was trying to take her into custody. After stabbing the lieutenant, she was tackled and taken into custody; she was not harmed.”
Investigators say the woman had also stabbed the cab driver who brought her to the airport. Still no word on a motive.
