Election day in Pennsylvania is finally here, and soon Republicans will know who will be on the ballot and looking to replace U.S. Senator Pat Toomey.

Dr. Mehmet Oz, the longtime daytime TV host, made headlines when he announced his intentions to run for the Republican nomination, and in the home stretch he says that he is disrupting the status quo.

Oz joined Rich Zeoli, host of the Rich Zeoli Show on WPHT 1210 News Radio, to discuss the key issues the country is facing right now and why he wants to represent the state of Pennsylvania.

“I’ve been fighting for Americans against some of these problems my whole career,” Oz said.

Oz said that while campaigning for the last six months, he has “fallen more in love with the commonwealth than ever before” and what’s to do his best to represent the state in D.C.

“If you’ll allow me to become that bold voice we need in Washington that represents our Pennsylvania values — pro-life, pro-second amendment, pro-energy — we will knock it out of the park,” Oz said.

After a weekend that saw numerous shootings across the country, Oz said this is not a gun issue but a mental health issue, and taking guns out of the lawful owner’s hands isn’t going to accomplish anything.

“I have dealt with mental issues in my clinical practice. I have it in my family, a lot of listeners now know how difficult it is,” Oz said. “You have to help those folks, specifically. They will find other ways to cause harm otherwise.”

The potential future candidate also shared his thoughts on numerous other topics he would face in office, including aid for Ukraine, the border, and other problems that he says you don’t need to throw money at them.

Bottom line, Oz says that if he gets into office, he will do all he can to help the people of Pennsylvania and cut back on rules and regulations that are “stifling innovation” in the state.

“I will never let you down, so when you put your head on the pillow, you feel good about it,” Oz said. “I’m proud to have been able to campaign, and I’m hoping you will honor me with your vote.”
