The lawyer that represents a convicted murderer who was released from prison 16 years early, now says that the 5th Circuit Solicitor helped arrange the early release. The State Newspaper reports that solicitor Byron Gipson played an integral role in getting Judge Casey Manning to sign an order to let convicted killer Jeroid Price, go free.

The State Paper also says Lawyer and State Representative Todd Rutherford made the same claim in front the of the State Supreme Court. Jeroid Price was released in March after serving 19 of his 35 year sentence for the murder of former Gamecock Football player Carl Smalls.

The order for release has now been unsealed and cites multiple examples of Price cooperating with and providing law enforcement with information which led to the order for his release.

The South Carolina Supreme Court is to be in session Wednesday to hear arguments on whether Price's release was unlawful or not.
