The South Carolina Attorney General's Office has recovered over a hundred thousand dollars in two separate Medicaid fraud cases. Attorney General Alan Wilson announced Wednesday that $125,000 was recovered after being fraudulently obtained by two recipients.
One recipient in the Low Country and the other in York County. HIPPA laws prevent the AG's office from releasing the names of the two violators. Wilson said that thus far this fiscal year, the Medicaid Fraud Unit has recovered over $775,000 in fraudulent claims. The press release from the AG's office did not say whether the two violators would face criminal charges.
