Members of the Civil Air Patrol are volunteer professionals who serve their communities through emergency services, aerospace education and cadet programs.
Earlier this year, we reported on the bill as it made its way through the South Carolina Legislature. Now, the Civil Air Patrol Leave Act takes effect October 1st. It requires public and private employers to provide qualifying employees with at least 30 days of leave each year for emergency operations, plus 10 days for training.
The leave is unpaid, but employees’ jobs are protected. The act was signed into law by Governor McMaster on June 30th.
