A controversial clergyman from Myrtle Beach has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a female protester during a confrontation outside his church. John Paul "JP" Miller was arrested Wednesday on a 3rd degree assault charge.
A protester was outside Miller's Solid Rock Church and confronted him about the death of his wife. Miller allegedly touched the ball cap of the protester with his phone twice while trying to record the incident.
Miller's Attorney says the video shows him trying to get away from the group of protesters and they kept following and harassing him. The arrest comes less than a week after the FBI searched Miller's home.
He has not yet been charged with a federal crime and the FBI hasn't released any info on what led to the search.
Miller made headlines after his wife Mica's body was found in Late April after she took her own life. Her death happened just days after JP was served with divorce papers.
The protesters have been gathering regularly outside the church shouting things like "Justice For Mica"
