SPARTANBURG, S.C. (July 13, 2021) - Converse University is on track to welcome the largest number of new undergraduate students in more than three decades: at least 370 new students from 30 states and 17 countries will attend Converse in the fall 2021 semester. The new students have an average GPA of 3.95, as well as a median SAT score of 1110 and a median ACT of 21 for those who chose to provide scores as part of Converse’s test-optional admissions process.

"With these new students and our growing graduate programs, including our doctoral program in professional leadership and our master’s program in marriage and family therapy, all of us are excited to have our campuses in Spartanburg and Greenville come alive this August with the energy and activity of all of our students,” said Jeff Barker, Converse University President. “I am honored to serve as Converse’s 11th president at such a time of growth and transformation. Talented faculty and staff, continuing improvements to our campuses, and a clear focus on academic success will help students as they join us this year.”

The most popular majors being pursued by the fall 2021 incoming class are Pre-Med, Psychology, Biology, Business Administration, and Education. "With interests in areas from sciences to the law, from business to the arts, students in our incoming Freshman class represent a diverse range of backgrounds and perspectives that will significantly contribute to the culture of community at Converse," said Vice President for Enrollment Management Jamie Grant.

The private, liberal arts university expects to maintain one of the best faculty to student ratios in the Southeast, with one faculty member for every 11 students.
