In a Duke Energy of the Carolinas press release, the utility company said "Close to 7,000 skilled workers will be strategically placed and prepared to respond as Debby moves through the Carolinas. Crews from other states are joining our local line technicians to assist with restoring power outages as conditions allow."
The NOAA says "heavy rainfall across portions of South and North Carolina is expected to persist through Thursday, August 8, 2024. Tropical storm warnings and watches are in effect. A dangerous storm surge is possible along the coast of South Carolina and southeastern North Carolina from South Santee River to Cape Fear."

Tropical Storm Debby is expected to bring torrential rain and strong winds, which, along with storm surges in coastal areas, will lead to dangerous flooding.

We’re ready to respond and encourage you to prepare now. Here are several reminders to keep you and your loved ones safe:
Stay away from downed power lines and electrical wires. DO NOT drive over or stand near downed power lines. Assume all lines are energized. Electric current passes easily through water. If a power line falls on your vehicle, remain inside unless there’s a fire or other immediate danger. If you must exit, jump clear of the car and land on both feet, ensuring no part of your body touches the vehicle. If using a generator, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Turn the generator off when utility crews are in your area. The electrical load on the power lines can be hazardous for crews making repairs. Turn off your power at the circuit breaker panel or fuse box if rising water threatens your home or if you evacuate your home. Learn about damaged meters. If you lose power:
