Duke Energy crews from the Carolinas are already rolling out to support the recovery efforts to repair the electric grid in Louisiana following Hurricane Ida.

In a statement from Duke Energy Carolinas Tuesday, spokesperson Ryan Mosier explained that many utilities rely on the the mutual assistance process where resources are shared with other utility companies in storm response.
Mosier said "About 150 workers from our Florida service territory traveled to Louisiana on Monday and more than 60 left this morning from parts of the Carolinas where we don’t expect to see an impact from the remnants of the storm. We have additional crews ready to travel once we understand the storm’s impact to our customers in the Carolinas."
Duke Energy has been on the receiving end of that mutual assistance process many times in dealing with repairs from ice storms to hurricanes and Mosier said they are happy to return the favor.
Utility crews from Florence, SC were deployed Tuesday morning for the Gulf. Trucks hauling heavy machinery will assist in rebuilding the electric transmission system in places like New Orleans, where much of the city is without power as a result of the loss of large transmission towers and associated equipment.
