That evidence-handling debate between accused double-murderer Aex Murdoch's defense team and the State Attorney General's office is now scheduled for a courtroom showdown.
The judge will listen to complaints by both sides in the case now set for trial in January. The disbarred and disgraced Lowcountry lawyer's defense led by Columbia attorney and senator Dick Harpootlian, is saying prosecutors are unfairly withholding evidence.
The AG's office denying any gamesmanship with it. But a hearing on the defense motion to order prosecutors to abide by a secrecy agreement concerning direct evidence from SLED investigators is now scheduled for Monday at the Colleton County Courthouse.
Harpootlian fumed at a news conference earlier this week that prosecutors are leaking select evidence to media outlets including talk of a cell phone video purported to place Murdaugh at the scene just before his wife and younger son were shot to death at the Colleton County hunting estate.
