The former CEO of Palmetto State Bank connected to Alex Murdaugh is expected to face an upcoming lawsuit. Russell Lafitte was removed from his position as CEO at Palmetto State Bank last year. The removal came after it was discovered he was allegedly involved in a fraud scheme orchestrated by Murdaugh.

The family of Hakeem Pinckney claims they were defrauded by Murdaugh. They now have filed documents in Hampton County to pursue civil litigation against Lafitte. Murdaugh represented members of the Pinckney family following a 2009 crash that left Hakeem paralyzed and injured two other family members.
Murdaugh and former legal associate Corey Fleming have been criminally charged for allegedly taking almost $800 thousand in insurance money that was due the Pinckney family. Lafitte acted as a conservator for the family's money and allegedly collected thousands in fees. Palmetto State Bank nor Lafitte have reimbursed the family.
The Pinckney's current attorney says they plan to file suit against Lafitte, Murdaugh, Corey Fleming and his former law firm. A document has been filed by the family's attorney to put a hold on four properties owned by Lafitte.
