Governor Henry McMaster held a press conference Monday afternoon to make an announcement concerning an aircraft carrier in the State's harbor. The Governor has now issued an Executive Order directing the State's Office Of Resilience to start the process of removing hundreds of thousands of gallons of pollutants from the U.S.S. Yorktown.

Earlier this year, McMaster called on the General Assembly to authorize funding to conduct a complete remediation of the hazardous materials. Congresswoman Nancy Mace was also spoke at the press conference saying "The U.S.S. Yorktown is a national treasure. This is a win for the community, a win for tourism and a win for the environment".
