South Carolina DHEC will have a new leader. Governor McMaster confirmed Thursday that Robert Bolchoz will be the new chairman of the agency. He will take over the spot from Mark Elam who has announced his upcoming retirement.

Bolchoz is a Columbia area attorney with public and private sector experience in environmental law. He has served in the 9th Circuit Solicitor's Office and as Chief Deputy Attorney General. During his time in that role he served as DHEC's legal counsel. Mark Elam will continue to serve as DHEC chairman until Bolchoz is confirmed by the State Senate.
