Judge denies motion for injunction against state's new abortion laws

There's more legal fallout around the Palmetto State concerning abortion laws since the overturning of Roe V. Wade. During a hearing in a Columbia courtroom Tuesday morning, Judge Casey Manning declined to grant Planned Parenthood's request for a preliminary injunction against South Carolina's Heartbeat bill.

The organization is seeking to block the new legislation's ban on abortions after 6 weeks of pregnancy. Judge Manning did grant a motion to refer the case to the State Supreme Court. Today's proceedings are part of a larger case and effort by Planned Parenthood to outlaw the state's ban on abortions after 6 weeks. They claim that the new law violates privacy rights granted by the South Carolina Constitution.
