A Low Country police officer has been charged for shooting and killing a suspect. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division says Hemingway Officer Cassandra Dollard faces a charge of voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of 46 year old, Robert Langley.

The arrest warrant says that around 1:30 Sunday morning, Langley ran a stop sign in the Williamsburg County town of Hemingway. He then refused to pull over when officers attempted to perform a traffic stop. Langley then reportedly led police on a pursuit that reached speeds of up to 100 MPH.

After driving for about 8 miles Langley ran the vehicle off in a ditch in Georgetown County. He then ran on foot and that's when Dollard fired at him. Langley was hit in the chest and died from his injuries. The arrest warrant says, Langley was unarmed and no weapon was found at the scene. Dollard also had no jurisdiction outside of Williamsburg County according to the warrant. Dollard is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center, she faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
