First responders were dispatched to the Myrtle Beach Golf and Yacht Club Friday. When crews arrived, they discovered that the alligator had taken hold of Burstein and dragged him into a retention pond nearby, drowning him in the process.

SCDNR and officials from a gator removal service, decided to humanely euthanize the animal on site. The gator was reportedly about 11 feet long. Police in Horry County and the SCDNR are still investigating the incident.
