
A major investment announced by state leaders is expected to bolster broadband connectivity across South Carolina. Governor McMaster and Congressman Jim Clyburn held a press conference Monday morning, to announce that the state is investing nearly half a billion dollars in broadband expansion.

The funding is coming from four major infrastructure grant programs. McMaster authorized the expansion of funding during the summer, with a portion of that money coming from the Cares Act.
The new investment will bring high speed internet to over 100,000 homes in South Carolina. The State Broadband office says, currently about 275,000 people are still without broadband access.
