New data from the US Census Bureau shows South Carolina is among the fastest growing states in the nation.
From July 1 of 2022 to July 1 of this year, the Palmetto State population grew by 90,600 to just over 5,373,500, a 1.7% increase.
Only Georgia, North Carolina, Florida and Texas saw larger increases, but in a social media post, Governor Henry McMaster pointed out the increase is the largest percentage of growth in the nation and laid claim to South Carolina being the fastest growing state in the nation.
Census Bureau data also showed the South leading the way for population growth accounting 87% of the increase for the entire country.
