A former restaurateur in the Midlands is dead just over a week after he was convicted of murder. Greg Leon was found dead hanging in his cell at Kirkland Correctional, last Friday afternoon. He was transported to Prisma Hospital where he died, late that night.

On July 6th, Leon was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of 28 year old, Arturo Santos in 2016. Court records say, Leon killed Santos after he found out that he was having an affair with his wife.

The Department of Corrections says, that Leon did have a cellmate but was alone in the cell, when he was found. His death is being investigated as a suicide.

Prior to the 2016 murder, Leon established nearly 10 restaurants in the Midlands after coming from very humble beginnings in Mexico.
