Convicted killer and former Low Country lawyer Alex Murdaugh has been dropped from a wrongful death lawsuit. The suit stemmed from the 2019 death of Mallory Beach who was killed in a boat crash.
Murdaugh's son Paul was charged following the crash after police said he was drinking that night and was driving the boat when it crashed. Paul and Murdaugh's wife Maggie were shot to death in 2021.
Alex Murdaugh was convicted of killing them both. His insurance company reached a settlement with the Beach Family for half a million dollars on the condition that Murdaugh would be dropped from the suit. With the settlement the civil boat crash case has come to an end.
