New study ranks South Carolina low in political engagement

A new study shows that South Carolina is near the bottom in political interest The research firm Wallethub has released new findings that ranked South Carolina 45th in political engagement.

The study used various metrics to determine the rankings. South Carolina was 34th in the percentage of registered voters for the 2020 Presidential election. 43rd in percentage of electorate who voted in the 2018 Midterm elections and 40th in percentage of electorate who voted in the 2020 Presidential election. The state also was 34th in voter accessibility policies.


No Southern states were ranked in the top 10, Georgia was the highest ranked Southern state coming in at 25th. South Carolina was ranked higher than Alabama at 48th and Arkansas at number 50.
