Abortion continues to be a key part of the Democrat election playbook in North Carolina and will now include what abortion advocates call an unprecedented get-out-and-vote campaign.

"Calling it a voter engagement project," Planned Parenthood-affiliated groups plan to spend ten million dollars on mailers, digital ads and old-fashioned canvassing for votes, like phone banks and door-to-door campaigning.

Organizers said in a Thursday news conference the funding is part of an effort to end the Republican supermajority in the General Assembly that approved new abortion restrictions last year, and to prevent the election of anti-abortion gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson.

Planned Parenthood says it's the biggest campaign investment ever made by Planned Parenthood supporters in North Carolina.
