Prisma Health Tuesday afternoon held a virtual press conference discussing the increasing number of cases and hospitalizations from the Coronavirus.
Prisma Medical Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Health, Dr. Helmut Albrecht, says the recent uptick in COVID cases comes from a mixture of the most recent new strain of the disease alongside the recent travel and gatherings during the July 4th weekend.
Also discussed during the press conference was the misunderstandings many have regarding the transmissibility of monkeypox.
Monkeypox has been in recent public consciousness, especially as it recently made its way to the United States and, even more recently, to South Carolina.
In the virtual press conference, Dr. Albrecht warned of common misunderstandings surrounding monkeypox especially in regards to the transmissibility of the disease.
