Prisma Health has settled a lawsuit regarding conditions at a Columbia hospital.
According to Richland County court records, the lawsuit was settled outside the courtroom between Prisma Health and SC OBGYN.
Prisma had sued multiple OBGYN doctors in 2020 following the practice leaving their Prisma Health location and moving to the Lexington Medical Center.
In response, the practice filed in court that their decision to leave was based on "abysmal" conditions following their joining Prisma's healthcare system, primarily citing poorly maintained faciliities and lacking staff.
The doctors have alleged that patients were turned away and operating room nurses were lacking for surgies while at the Prisma Health location.
Prisma, in response, cited the Joint Commission's high marks of the facility and claimed the move was instead motivated by financial gain.
