A Rock Hill police officer has been acquitted of assaulting a Black man during a traffic stop last summer.
Rock Hill police investigator Jonathan Moreno was fired last year after the alleged assault of a black man during a traffic stop in June of 2021.
On Wednesday, Moreno was found not guilty by jurors of the misdemeanor assault charge.
Facebook videos from bystanders showed officers wrestling with and forcing two men, Travis Price and his brother, to the ground during the incident.
Prosecutors claimed that Price was an innocent bystander when police were arresting his brother and that Moreno assaulted him unprovoked. But Moreno and his attorneys argued he was being scapegoated by police and that Moreno publicly apologized for the incident last year.
