When politics and alcohol mix, anything can happen, including an assault by mob charge.
In Conway, Police say the Political Director of the South Carolina Republican Party and her mother were arrested Wednesday. Charges Braylee Estep, 22, and Michele Stalvey Estep, 53, stem from an alleged confrontation at Stalvey’s Watering Hole in Conway, December 23, 2023. Police were called to the bar after a vandalism complaint was made.
Reports say the victim and a witness were drinking at the bar when a third suspects boyfriend began calling them foul names. The confrontation carried to the outside parking lot when the Esteps and the third suspect used vulgar language and hit the victim multiple times outside the establishment according to reports. The victim allegedly made a disparaging remark about Braylee Estep before leaving the bar.
The victims car was also hit with a cup, allegedly causing three large dents. Arrest records say the mother and daughter are charged with third degree assault and battery by a mob. On Wednesday afternoon, January 3, 2024, the Esteps were released from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center after each posting $5,000 bond.
