Upstate Senator Lindsey Graham, along with fellow Senator Richard Blumenthal, met this week with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine is now in its 5th month, leaving thousands dead and millions displaced.
One of the primary focuses of the meeting was for Graham and Blumenthal to present Zelenskyy with a resolution they are proposing to Congress to recognize Russia as a "state sponsor of terrorism".
Also discussed during the meeting was Zelenskyy's appeal for modern air defense systems to defend against Russian air power and make it possible for families to return to the country and children to return to schools.
The United States has provided support to Ukraine during the conflict, through the donation of military equipment. The US most recently sent $820 million in military assistance to the nation, bringing the total aid to Ukraine from the US up to nearly $7 billion.
