South Carolina’s capital city has a new mayor. Republican Daniel Rickenmann won Tuesday night’s run off to become the new mayor of Columbia. He defeated Democrat Tameika Devine getting 52% of the runoff vote.
South Carolina GOP Chairman Drew Mckissick congratulated Rickenmann in a statement Wednesday morning. saying "South Carolina voters have proven yet again they reject Democrat agendas. Wishlists full of emotion, promises without tangible plans, and radical ideas fall on deaf ears in the Palmetto State. “Daniel Rickenmann was a quality candidate who put in the work, connected with voters, and communicated a realistic message. We want to extend a huge congratulations to him, his family, and his campaign.
