Recent controversial comments by a Democratic State Representative have come under fire and have one high ranking member of the State's Republican Party calling for a resignation. State Representative from the Low Country Krystle Matthews made racially charged comments against white people in leaked audio that has now been published by Project Veritas.

SCGOP Chairman Drew McKissick is calling for Matthews to resign from her post following those comments. Matthews won the Democratic Primary for a U.S. Senate seat in June and will face incumbent Republican Tim Scott in the November general election.

The recent comments from Matthews come just months after audio was leaked from a phone call between her and a South Carolina prison inmate, in which Matthews called for "dope money" to be donated to her campaign.

McKissick said in a statement Thursday "Let me be clear: radical, self-avowed socialist State Representative Krystle Matthews should resign. She's touted her racist attitudes and slurs and encouraged her fellow Democrats to break laws to support her long shot campaign for U.S. Senate. She's proven she's not capable of serving the people of South Carolina".
