A teenager is in custody and a deputy is injured after an officer involved shooting in the Midlands. Deputies and SWAT Team personnel from the Aiken County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in the town of Beech Island, Friday evening.
The Sheriff's Office says, a 15 year old murder suspect was believed to be inside the home. After an exchange of gunfire, the suspect was taken into custody. One deputy was injured in the shootout and was taken to an area hospital. There's been no update on the deputy's condition and no report of injuries to the suspect.
The suspect has not been identified due to him being a juvenile. This is the 4th officer involved shooting in Aiken County, this year. SLED is investigating the incident, which is stand protocol in officer involved shootings.
