The South Carolina Supreme Court announced Monday that they have begun testing their Technology Enhanced Courtroom (TEC) Project in Greenville County Circuit and Family Court proceedings.

The TEC Project is meant to enhance courtrooms state-wide with reliable internet, built-in video conferencing, screen sharing, digital evidence presentation, and other digital support for future court proceedings.

In a statement, Chief Justice Donald W Beatty said "This proven technology will modernize and improve the courtroom experience, helping attorneys as they advocate on behalf of their clients."

He continued to explain that these planned digital upgrades will allow individuals to participate in court proceedings remotely if necessary to limit distance-caused delays for court proceedings.

If proven successful, the project will expand to most courtrooms around the state.
