Two people were injured after a train derailment in the Midlands. Norfolk Southern says, three of their locomotives and three rail cars derailed near Columbia. The train had departed from Atlanta and was headed to Charleston.
Two Norfolk Southern employees were injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The Columbia Fire Department responded to the derailment around 8:30 this morning. The railroad company says they are clearing up the wreckage and working to re-open the tracks. The derailment is being investigated by the Federal Railroad Administration.
