An eight-year-long investigation ends with the final arrests of two former South Carolina lawmakers.

The eight-year investigation into corruption at the Statehouse sees the arrests of two former state lawmakers, former Senator John Courson of Columbia and former Representative Tracy Edge of Myrtle Beach.

Both Republican lawmakers are facing fines and potential jailtime for campaign fund-related actions.

Courson was ordered to serve 100 hours of community service and once he finishes, his probation will end.

He originally pled guilty in 2018 to taking $159,000 from his campaign account and using it for personal expenses on the advice of a prominent Republican political consultant at the center of the corruption investigation.

Edge was ordered to pay a $50o0 fine after he pled guilty to failing to fully report his campaign finances.

The consultant at the middle of the investigation, Richard Quinn Sr., was sentenced to 18 months of home detention in mid-April for his involvement.
