Dangerous suspect wanted in North Carolina has been pronounced dead.
On August 2, 2024, the McDowell County Sheriff's Office reported they were looking for Ryan Ricky Houston, accused of breaking and entering into a McDowell County home, assault and theft of a vehicle the night before.
Houston was out on bond for Attempted First Degree Murder in Buncombe County.
On Monday, August 5, 2024, Officials reported via social media that Houston was killed in a head-on collision Thursday night along I-40. The McDowell County Sheriff's Office confirmed 41 year old Malerie Lauren Crisp of Asheville, who was also in the vehicle at the time, passed away. An autopsy by the Medical Examiner's Office revealed Crisp died from stab wounds.
Also killed in the I-40 collision, Marshall Police Chief, Thomas Michael Boone. The Town Of Marshall said Boone had just celebrated his retirement from law enforcement after more than three decades of service. They issued a statement over the weekend saying " We are fortunate to have had Mike in our presence, both as a law enforcement officer and as our friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him".
