A fatal incident on Hilton Head Island, is believed to have been an attack by an alligator. Authorities responded to the possible alligator attack reported in the Spanish Wells community near the golf course just before 9:30 am Tuesday.
The unidentified 69-year-old is said to be a resident of the community and was found unresponsive at the edge of a lagoon. The alligator was safely removed from the area, and the body of a woman was recovered.
This marks the second fatal alligator attack in Beaufort County in less than a year.
