Escorting vessels through the Strait of Hormuz will be extremely costly for the United States. Given that our current allies are unwilling to assist, should we seek new partnerships with nations prepared to offer aid? Global gas prices are rising, partly because transit through the Strait is vulnerable to attacks. When did threatening political opponents become acceptable? History shows there are always people seeking a cause to dedicate themselves to—or even die for. Where has the sense of personal moral responsibility vanished? Today, it seems our media and certain politicians forget that words carry weight and can provoke violence. Or perhaps, they are fully aware of the consequences of their actions.
